THE SHOTGUN BAR / Now this is fucking crazy...
« on: November 07, 2014, 05:14:21 AM »
I'm sure this story has made national news in Oz but it has even made the national news in the U.S. I just heard about it while watching one of our 24/7 cable news channels.

Trust me, we have all kinds of crazy shit that goes down on this side of the world but even by American standards, this is one of the craziest fucking things I have ever seen.

I also noticed in the video that even your cops had their guns out while they were chasing lunatic around the parking lot at the service station.

I guess their guns aren't just a badge of officer after all.

As I've mentioned in the past on this side of the world it's SOP for our cops to have their guns out during a felony arrest or forced entry into a house. Even on a traffic they usually have their hand on their sidearm simply because they don't know who or what they might be dealing with but anybody who was chasing this guy around the parking lot without their sidearm out would have to be even crazier than he is.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / Well that is the utter end of Obama's agenda.
« on: November 05, 2014, 04:33:42 PM »

We just had our mid-term elections here and the Democrats got a shellacking to an extent that even I didn't expect.

There are still some races too close to call mostly a couple of Senate races that are so close that by the election laws in those states they'll be an automatic recount but at the moment the Republicans control the Senate 52-45 and an overwhelming majority in the House 233-159.

They also have the majority of state Governors and the majority of state legislatures which if they play their cards right is one hell of a good foundation for whoever the Republican Presidential candidate is in 2016.

I also think this is most likely the end of the road for Hillary Clinton. She campaigned HARD for Democrats and she had about as much success as she did with her book tour.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / The next U.S. President.
« on: October 30, 2014, 05:10:47 PM »
I haven't a clue who it might be but this is a great example of why if Chris Christie runs, I will not only vote for him I will PERSONALLY campaign for for him.

If you don't like how things are going then put your name on a ballot or at least roll up your sleeves and actually DO something.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / My new range.
« on: October 24, 2014, 09:17:23 AM »

Upside it was delivered today and while I've not cooked on it yet I did put it through it paces and it seems awesome. Although it's electric the range top heats as fast as any gas range I've ever used.

It's a bit different from what I'm accustomed to but nothing that can't be solved by RTFM.

Downside, the manual says to run the oven through a self cleaning cycle before you use it. Okay. No problem.

I'm doing that now but god almighty damn. The odor from it is so bad that I'm currently wearing a surgical mask and my cats are loosing their fucking minds. And that's WITH the back door open to get some fresh air in.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / Deadly shooting in Canada.
« on: October 23, 2014, 10:20:46 AM »
Jesus fucking Christ. Has the whole fucking world gone insane?

As much as I love my country I will admit that in the U.S. guns and the associated violence are just a part of life. Our cops carry sidearms and usually a backup in an ankle holster not as a badge of office but because there's a damned good chance that one day they may have to defend themselves with deadly force and I often carry a sidearm for the very same reason but we're not talking about the U.S. this is Canada for Christ's sake.  ;zn

THE SHOTGUN BAR / Here's another song from me.
« on: October 22, 2014, 05:33:05 AM »

This one is for Richo and anybody else who has ever gotten up before daylight and put in a long, hard days work which I think is pretty much everybody here.

"If it works, if it runs, if it lasts for years you can bet your bottom dollar it was made right here, with pride and honor and dignity."

Damned straight.

In my opinion if you can't do the job and take pride in whatever it is you've done then just don't do it to start with.

This forum is a great example of that. There's seldom a time that I come on here that I don't think about I'm proud that I was able to help Richo build this place.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / The song I want played at my funeral.
« on: October 21, 2014, 03:51:00 PM »
This song is me to the core.

Among other things, I have a little scar on my forehead from about 25 years ago that I still often notice when I'm shaving. But I still don't give in when I believe that I'm right and I can look in the mirror and like what I see in the man that kid turned out to be.

I didn't start that fight, some fuckwit who I thought was a friend sucker punched me and to this day I don't know why but when I got up off the floor, I stomped his ass.

I'm also telling the absolute gospel truth when I say, I ain't been no angel but I've played a straight game with the cards that were dealt and this old world throws some punches and I've taken more than my share, both figuratively and literally but I've grown strong and true.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / I wasn't born stupid I had to work at it...
« on: October 16, 2014, 12:19:34 AM »

So I couldn't get any sound from any youtube videos. I tore shit apart trying to figure out the problem. My desktop PC is still sitting in the floor as are my speakers. My cable router/modem that usually lives on top of my computer is laying on my desk. I did updates galore and so my PC is now totally up to date but still no sound on youtube.

Anybody want to venture a guess as to what the problem was?

After an hour or so of pulling out the hair that I don't have I figured it out. I had somehow managed to click the mute button on youtube.  ;:q

THE SHOTGUN BAR / Women and their purses
« on: October 11, 2014, 06:58:58 PM »

I suppose this is another case of something I will never understand but my mother carries a purse the size of a small suitcase and spends the better part of an hour each morning dumping everything out of it, going through it and then putting it all right back where it came from.

Like I told her, why is she needs a suitcase to carry her shit in when I can carry everything I need in the pockets of my slacks?  ::w

THE SHOTGUN BAR / Who will be the next President of the United States?
« on: October 09, 2014, 05:42:57 PM »
I'm really not sure but here is a hugely intelligent and hugely successful man saying it will be Hillary Clinton.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / How's this for a brain twisting SNAFU?
« on: October 02, 2014, 09:48:03 AM »

I woke up today and didn't have any electricity. I went outside to see if I could figure out what was wrong so I could give them more info when I called to report the outage.

There were two electric utility trucks in the alley behind the house and a guy up on a ladder, working on a transformer.

I thought, okay, no need to call them they are obviously working on stuff and that's why the electricity is off.

After hours with no electricity I went outside to go ask somebody what was going on but they were gone and so I went back to call them but on the way I thought. I'm going to have a look around and see if I can figure out the problem before I call them.

I walked the electrical line from the house, to the alley, down the alley and back again and everything looked fine.

I was coming back in the house to call them when I thought to take a look at the main panel.

As it turned out, for reasons that utterly escape me, some fuckwit had turned off the main power switch on the panel and didn't turn it back on.

All fixed now but whoever did that is a fucking idiot and I hope they don't do that to some little old lady who hasn't a clue.

Jesus fucking Christ. You came onto MY property, turned off the main switch in MY panel and never bothered to turn it back on. Were you born stupid or did you have to work at it?

THE SHOTGUN BAR / Has Michelle Obama looked in the mirror lately?
« on: October 01, 2014, 07:01:17 PM »
I know this is a mostly Aussie forum but Michelle Obama, who we have the misfortune of having as our First Lady is on a crusade to make sure that schoolkids eat healthy.

I actually don't disagree with that in principle. I keep a very close eye on my weight and what I eat and while it's okay to splurge now and then and eat something bad, it's not something you should do every day.

However, Michelle Obama is a two-legged cow who wants to dictate to others what they should eat while she waddles around looking like a cow.

I just heard that the Dutch are sending six F-16s to help strike ISIS.

Six planes? What would we do without that?

Add to which, where did they get their F-16s from in the first place?  ::w

Also, did they actually PAY for them or did they pay for them in the same way that Israel has paid for their U.S. jet fighters?

THE SHOTGUN BAR / Robin Williams on the Islamic Jihad.

Also  not for those who are easily offended but I think it's funny as hell but then, I can't stand religious stupidity in general.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / F/A-18s versus hikers.

Apparently these guys had never seen a jet fighter before.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / Big ass beefy motherfuckers.
« on: September 18, 2014, 09:04:03 AM »

For some reason, the bigger they are, the more likely they are to find me...

I've on many an occasion thought to myself, Jesus fucking Christ, what did your mama feed you?

I'm not exactly little. I'm five foot eleven and knocking 200 pounds but there was this dude working at the grocery store who was fucking enormous.

We had no conflict at all. He was actually very polite and respectful but I'd say he was somewhere around six foot six and at least 300 pounds.

Those are the guys who make me ask myself, what the fuck did your mama feed you?

They're also the ones that you can slam them right in the face with your best punch and they just stand there, looking at you like you just hit them with a toothpick.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / For the guys who like to cook...
« on: September 17, 2014, 01:59:09 PM »

I have put together a new forum that stems from an Aussie barbecue forum.

The guys who setup the old forum are Aussies and they love to barbecue but they aren't exactly tech savy and they admit that.

Chris asked me to help out with putting together a new forum and after some instances of wanting to pull out the hair that I don't have I FINALLY have it up and running.

I expanded the new forum from just barbecue to cooking in general, as well as drinks and just general chit chat.

I went live with it about an hour ago and so not exactly much going on there at the moment but I'm confident it will get a lot of interest.

For anybody here who wants to check it out, here's the link.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / I love computers but...
« on: September 16, 2014, 01:05:37 AM »

Sometimes they can be damned fucking frustrating.

I've been trying every day for about two weeks to pay a traffic ticket that my mother got but it wasn't showing up.

She called them and asked about it today and come to find out the problem was the citation number begins with an A and you have to enter it as an uppercase A. I was entering as lowercase.  ::p

THE SHOTGUN BAR / You should have seen it in color...
« on: September 09, 2014, 05:27:26 PM »
I've always both loved this song and very much relate to it.

Both of my grandfathers were children of the Great Depression and combat veterans of World War Two and so were their brothers.

"There's my tail gunner old Johnny McGhee, he was a high school teacher from New Orleans."

A lot of people don't realize that WW2 on the American side was not fought by professional soldiers or children of the Hitler youth. It was fought by guys who were bankers, lawyers, doctors, mechanics, school teachers, salesmen, chefs, accountants and most any other profession you could think of.

The U.S. was forced into a war that we tried like hell to stay out of.

Before the war, one of my grandfathers sold windows and doors and the other one managed a restaurant.

"If it looks like we were scared to death, you should have seen it in color."

THE SHOTGUN BAR / What in the holy fucking hell do women do in the bathroom?
« on: September 08, 2014, 05:06:21 PM »

I know I've posted about this before but I can shit, shave, brush my teeth, take a shower and be dressed in a business suit in around 30 minutes.

This morning my mother spent over an hour to get ready to go sit with an old man who couldn't give a fuck less what she looks like.

What do they do in there?

THE SHOTGUN BAR / Think I'll make it to 77?
« on: August 28, 2014, 08:56:49 AM »
I doubt it but while he may look like shit Merle has survived 77 years of booze, cigs, drugs and one night stands and he's still one of the greatest singers ever.

I suppose there's hope for us all.

This is one of my favorite Merle Haggard songs and one of my favorite songs period and while my mother is crazy as hell, often drives me to drink and at times makes me want to use her head for target practice I will say that as the song says, mama tried to raise me better but I refused and to while I'm almost 40 years old she'd still do anything in the world for me.

There may be a screaming cuss fight first but in the end she'd never turn her back on me and I wouldn't her other than if the shit were to really hit the fan I'd tell her, get behind me, get down and shut the fuck up...

I'm eight inches taller than you, I have military training in hand to hand combat, I can shoot a hole in a quarter at 25 yards and while I do have a temper I can also be very, very calm in dealing with people and I've dealt with hundreds of people a day, every day, for years.

Get behind me, get on the ground and shut the fuck up...

That said, Mama Tried...

THE SHOTGUN BAR / Want to come ride with me in the Internet fast lane?
« on: August 27, 2014, 05:11:10 AM »

I'm currently as happy as a high school boy who just got his first BJ.

I now have 260 channels of HD CATV, as well as a VOIP home phone and the Internet equivalent of a Ferrari.

I'm getting 123 Mbps down, 24 up and a 14 ms ping.

I also no longer need a router. My new modem has 4 Ethernet ports as well as built in WiFi.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / Let's all wish Zimmerman a happy birthday...

He's turning somewhere around 125 and so let's all wish him a happy birthday.  :-*

Goddamn I'm simply getting too fucking old to crawl around under houses.

To make it even better/worse all I really accomplished was fixing a light.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / My last rant for the day... NSFW!
« on: August 08, 2014, 06:31:17 PM »
There is no goddamn such thing as a motherfucking haunted house.

There is no goddamn such thing as ghosts.

IF you believe there is any such thing then point me to the haunted house and I swear to the god in which I don't believe that I will go there, by myself and spend the night there.

This late night rant was brought on by two Fox "news" info babes who had the only real requirement you have to have to be on Fox "news."

They both had long blonde hair, long legs and skirts cut up to their asses.

They had also discovered a "haunted house" and were telling us all about it.

I am 100% serious here.

If you have found a haunted house, tell me where it is and I swear to the god in which I don't believe that I will go go there, by myself and spend the night.

The Fox "news" info babes are however more interested in babbling their "news."
