More like 50% LD

My Aussie HD ownership breakup looks like this:

1%ers = 5%
Long term bikers who love the bloody things= 20%
Yuppies who sell them again at the first fleeting sign of a downturn= 50%
Pseudo tough blokes who sell them again after 3 yrs max after their image crisis is over= 25%

Its only the first 2 I try and have anything to do with.

You'd  surprised Chris ... most Stealerships see HD owners as cashed up yuppies / dumb asses and try to rob them blind.

Charging bullshit amounts for labor (vastly exaggerated times)

Charging parts + 30-50% markup

Stealing parts from low mileage bikes and replacing with worn items

Selling dodged up bikes and bullshitting their way out of warranty issues.

Man I've seen it all in a 1/4 century of messing around with bikes and cars.

Thats way, WAY out of spec. To be brutally honest... sounds like the rings are fucked and the odo has been dodged.

My 05 takes 2.5 litres to replace every oil change and is lucky to use 100mls between changes every 5000 klicks.

Your engine has bulk wear in the top end if its burning that much oil man. Go give the stealer (dealer) a knuckle sanga and get them to make it right... thats bullshit about oil consumption.

If you get it rebuilt yourself then give us a yell for a good engine recipe.

I banged out 2.5 large for a gaming lappy at hardley normals on 50 months interest free (whats not to like?)

Also heard bad bad things about the aliens .. mobos in particular having epic fails every 4-6 months and heat issues also.

Went with an MSI. Never owned one before but got a good rap from a couple fellas who took civvy versions to Iraq and Afghanistan 2 yrs no probs. That and MSI used to make bloody good hardware back in the day when I was buying/selling shitloads of it swung it for me. HP couldn't get close to the horsepower per buck ratio so not in the race this time around.

Fucking hate winblows 8.1

Anyone got a hack to make it win7 ish ?

« on: January 08, 2015, 07:20:08 PM »

Lost my main rig today after 8 yrs of being brutally flogged.

Luckily I've managed to keep it barely limping along so I can backup my stuff.  Interestingly .. win7 is far more tolerant of a failing psu than *nix is ... go figure and lucky I have a dual boot !

Will organise a replacement as soon as I can.

DEAD MANS GULCH / Jamie Brent 1975 ~ 2014
« on: December 28, 2014, 09:33:35 PM »
I first met Jamie more than a decade ago. A feisty, opinionated American bloke with a blinding intellect and a genuine love of helping people out both online and in real life.

This bloke was no beige coloured plain vanilla flavoured person, no way. He was a spicy, interesting individual with a unique take on the world. He was one of the original Dudeworld Crew and contributed greatly to the Knucklehead Saloon Forums in particular.

Jamie Admined "The Knuck" for a number of years and did a cracking job of keeping the place running and reorganising the many boards.

He will be sadly missed by his mates here and several other online forums he frequented.

RIP mate, you are not forgotten and so you live on in the hearts and minds of many.

It would be a piece of piss for me to hook up another forum on DW's bandwidth. Brand spanker shiny SMF board.

However I'm time poor so someone would have to put their hand up to admin it etc.

I'll put up the infrastructure if someone can put in the time and I'll help out with graphics and shit too.

Gimme a mental lightweight 2stroke anyday.

THE SHOTGUN BAR / So I bought a dirt bike
« on: November 04, 2014, 07:20:54 PM »
Bit of a long story but here we go.

I'm a coal miner. Coal miners here get paid shitloads of money. I'm new so I’m a contractor trainee on roughly 1/3rd their wages which equates to 2/3rds the average aussie wage.

Yep great title, shit pay.

So... I've been punting Harleys for the better part of a decade now but there's not too many dudes riding road bikes up this way (I moved inland away from the coast 120 klicks to get the job), they're all on dirt squirters up here.

After a couple of invites from the dirt bike fellas I was feeling a bit left out. My finances were shithouse and the only way I could afford even a cheap dirtbike was to give up smoking. I did that.
I'm now the proud owner of a 98 model RMX250 in a 1/2 hot-rodded state.... well not for long.... mail order parts and a spanner spree in the garage later she'll be kicking ass.

Right now ... 45hp and 102kg .... in a few weeks I'm hoping to punch that out to 50 or so.

Here's a generic pic from 16 yrs ago, she looks a bit dated but new plastics should sort that.
