My new toy...
« on: December 21, 2012, 05:45:26 PM »
Raspberry Pi. Don't believe the hype, it's not the size of a credit card. But in the case, it's about the size of a pack of cigarettes. With an SD card sticking out one end.

It's pretty good and when I get the new house, I'll have one set up as a media player. Wireless remote, keyboard, mouse, USB powered HDD.

These things are farking tiny!

Not really something I have any use for but as I was telling a buddy of mine a week or two back, it's amazing how much tech stuff has progressed.

My new phone, which will fit in my pocket, is smarter than my first two or three computers and a hell of a lot cheaper.

Again, I'm genuinely glad to see you having the $ to buy some fun things.

McClean:  They're cheap as chips too.

What type of install you going to do for the Pi media server?

Check it out.  IT might do what you want.

Okay, I went impulse shopping today. I got me a new 40" LED smart TV. Fucken TVs have more USB ports than most PCs these days! Fark!

Anyway, I just hooked the pi up to it and watched Ted. Fuggen awesome movie and it looked great on the big screen tele, too! Colour me impressed!

I know I've said it before, but again, I'm glad to see you having the extra $ to go buy toys.
