Asus?

Good boards, use them often, Asrock is their cheap end but in my experience just as good, just a bit frugal on ports on some models.

Cheers

Definitely time for an upgrade.

 :)

Once they went flat cell or whatever it's called, Cael will correct me, I used to keep a few around, they were flat by the time I needed them.

In the batt pack AA days, geez, so you stick them to the side of the psu mr manufacturer and wonder why they fall on the mobo and things short?

If it's a new board then ASUS is a good option, but check out Gigabyte, rather nice at the moment.

Just rebuilt one last month, sturdy boards and very flexible on ports etx.

I used to love Epox, they released one lemon and vanished.

Tyan is where real quality is at, but damn you pay for it, on'y build servers for commercial use on those.

Cheers

I used to have a bag of the bastards in the tool box, I'd give 'em out for free. I tend to fuck around with PCs only when I need to now. I don't fix them for friends, the kids all have laptops and that just leaves mine and my parents' PCs.

Wait, what? Sides? On a PC case? Pfft! It's so easy to put the case at the bottom of the priority list when building a new PC. I'd love to have a new case, but I have more important things to spend my money on. Besides, this one without sides holds everything where it's supposed to be, so that's good enough for me.

As I've said, I'm totally portables now, but whilst I used to spend a bit on good cases, they do make things easier, mine always seemed to have a side panel off half the time as well :)

Well, the USB sound adapter doesn't work, that's a dollar wasted, which is an embuggerance.

On a positive note, I actually plugged my USB headphones in, and they work! So now I'm gonna buy me some USB speakers.

Just tried the USB sound adapter in a different port and it worked. It won't work in the hub for some reason, which is weird, because I have a 5 1/4" bay hub and it works there.

Fucking computers, they're just like women. Can't live with them, don't wanna live without 'em.

Okay, so I lashed out and bought a new keyboard/mouse combo, the MS wireless desktop 1000, it cost all of $42 from IJK.

The mouse is quite a bit heavier than I'm used to and it doesn't glide as easily as my old base model MS mouse, but I'm happy enough with it. The keyboard is nice to type on, but the media keys are all in different places, so the muscle memory's going to need reprogramming.

All in all, for $42, I'm happy with it.

Good price.

Wireless always drove me nuts though, the number of times I'd be text-chatting and suddenly find the batteries flat....

Corded keyboard, Ms, and a Logitech trackball is my way, wouldn't suit everyone, does me. ;)

Hubs can be odd, ought to be one bus, but I've had port-sensitivity sometimes as well, what some people forget is that on some hubs a couple of ports are only wired for charging and typically the left side ones on netbooks and lappies are the same.

I changed my mind on the mouse. Love the keyboard, hate the mouse, so it's been put away in the drawer. I've gone back to the old corded mouse. With all the clutter on my desk, the cord is getting annoying, but I just can't abide the heaviness of the wireless mouse.

Don't recall what it cost, good as the day I got it though, and must be five years old plus.

Some USB ports can't supply enough juice.......ie USB 1.1 to USB 2.0.

USB 3.0 supplies a lot more so I'm waiting to upgrade when all boards have USB and SATA 3.
