So... Didn't see anyone link to this before... maybe they saw it on SBS when it aired.. However it is available as an online stream for those that missed it...

~60minute per episode documentary on the recruitment process of the Aussie SAS forces. Makes most other 'elite' force look like pussies ;)

edit: oh, when you check out the second video, about two minutes in, where they talk about the 'most rugged and isolated mountain ranges in australia', that's the walk i'm doing in march... should be great! ;)

Yep, I missed it when it aired, I'll definitely watch it, I had a few beers with a couple of mates who did the course years ago, one of them ended up doing 15 years in the Regiment.

:)

I am, shall we say, feeling no pain and I have to be at work in less than 3 hours and so I won't be watching now, but I will soon.
Where everything out here ain't what it seems
When I'm down to nothing, I just go ahead and dream
And face the fact that I'm a circle in a world full of squares

I know blokes that are getting on to 20 years in the Regiment. When you think about it, even the SASR needs senior NCOs, and every single one of them starts at the bottom.

True.

Don't know what the policies are in SASR, despite knowing a few guys, in the SAS they rotate them out to their regiments for a time, knowledge transfer as much as anything, seems to work pretty well, Rangers and Delta do much the same.

Cheers

Well, ours just stay there, but there's more to the Regiment than what's at Perth. Plenty of postings at Canbra, for example.

Just started watching it, I see the CO has had a shave since I saw him last.
