Avatar sizes

 :)

Hey boss, when you have a minute, can you take a look at the avatar settings?

It looks like the size limits are a bit on the small side.

As an example, this is the link for my current avatar. So you can see what it looked like before the forum resize function got hold of it.

av sizes are 150 x 150... already modded from the stock smf 120 x 120.

Try this one mate.

'Tis better, but it's still showing up with a scroll bar under it, as is your avatar. That wasn't happening on the old Knuck,

Yes, I realize the scroll bar is entirely an issue of what size display someone is using, but nothing has changed on my end and as I said, I didn't see scroll bars on the old Knuck.

You don't get it because yours is a little bigger than mine.  ::X

I'm running 1280X1024 on a 19 inch LCD.

IF I kill the bookmarks sidebar, then the scroll bars go away, but if I have the bookmarks taking up a bit of real estate, then I see scroll bars.

ok i just checked on a 1280 x 1024  17" and the scrollies are definitely there.

I just changed the serverside setting from "let html resize" to "let java resize"

do you still see the scrollies if you do a ctrl+F5   ?

:)

Yep, I sure do and if you check it, so should you...

Two things there, one, it's not just server side. You also need to check the settings in the forum admin panel. Specifically, the settings under Attachments and Avatars. Make sure you have it set to use the GD module to resize and that the GD module is installed.

Second, nothing you do will in any way alter avatars that have already been uploaded.

This was working properly on the old Knuck and so, I would assume, something is a bit amiss here.

BTW, as a test, I changed my avatar to the direct photobucket link I posted earlier.

You can see the results to the left...

/back

gd module is part of the serverside php install (contact your service provider type of hassle), I don't have access to those files.

I think for now I'll run with the stock 120 x 120 avatar sizes. Anything bigger than 150 x 150 just chews up far too much space and craps out the page layout... standby for the change..

:)

Sorry, I didn't know that regarding the GD module. For me, it's just always been there and so I kinda assumed it was part of the SMF install.

Not sure what you did, but I no longer see scroll bars on my avatar. I do however still see them on yours.

 rofl

I'm seriously considering buying myself a bigger monitor for Christmas.

But, as I said before, I wasn't seeing the scroll bars on Knuck Mk II and nothing has changed on my end.  ::w

it was the forum av sizes. When i built knuck 3 I changed them to 150 x 150 from the get go instead of the stock 120 x 120. Now there's a heap of 150's in the system its making life hard to try and revert to 120 whatever way we go. the GD module is the only effective solution and I don't have that option atm.

Sorry man but its scroll city for the time being.

Although.. I will pose the question to hostgator and see what they say.
