Welcome to the knuck MkIII
« on: July 16, 2009, 10:20:47 AM »
WELCOME TO THE KNUCKLEHEAD SALOON MKIII

Its a new sophisticated look on a heavily armored platform and I hope you like it.

The changes were prompted by security flaws in the Knuck MkII smf codebase which in the end got us compromised (along with a heap of others around the world) and a big chunk of our forum data lost for good.

I realise its a setback for the great little community we have here and I deeply apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced over the last week while I was coding my ass off trying to get us functional again. It was painful for everyone involved and I for one take some small solace in the fact that the people who nailed us got nailed right back by a good friend and I hope they like their hard drives the color of charcoal.

You can still access the old knuck2 for a limited time with the direct url: http://www.dudeworld.com.au/forum44/ Please use this to retrieve any data you require from the old board and if you experience any difficulties then just post in this thread and the admin team will assist you.

If you have any queries or suggestions for the new board then our mod team will be only too happy to help you with that.

Thankyou everyone for your patience, Richo.

Is cool mate, nobody could possibly blame you - it was a pretty much worldwide assault.

It is JUST possible that I may have just nailed the core offender, see comment elsewhere :)

Cheers

You and your Windows 7..... ;)

I think I'll go Slackware, just to annoy you :)

(Actually I do have a Slackware box around here somewhere.... :) )

Jamie has a thread up on how to get to the old site - I've been able to stay persistently logged in, but, be careful, Avast went nuts first time I logged to it and my firewall did not like me, at all :)

It SHOULD be ok by now though, think I de-infested it, but geez, fucking idiots, creative idiots, but still idiots, I'll go back and take another look - sorry Richo, forgot to tell you, I did do a gentle ethical hack on the old place, just to see how many vermin I could exterminate and possibly get rid of before they came at our new home :)

Cheers

Yeah the error count is still going ballistic on K2. There's an autobot out there somewhere with really good IP masking (can't get a lock on it) and auto scripting requested forum shell connections at a rate of 1 every 2 seconds or so.

I've plated up the knuck2 as best I can so the requests bounce but I'm unable to block the IP because I cant see it. If I had an IP I could set a ban from cpanel and stop them from seeing the whole site.

Can you track any routing / proxy / IP info from one of your sniffers ?

Mate, I have about 15 conections spead across K2 and 3, you're seeing the most exposed one, which is not even from my network....

No I don't know of anyone in WA that works there and is a Knuck, lemme have a look...

Hmm, yeah that bot is a bloody persistent one, and it's a jumper, so not going to be able to IP block it, I'll go see if I can swat it....

Cheers

Edit - Oh now I's got two aeriplanes to play with, danka, and you did not need to :)

I'm seeing 4 of your connections, 1 on K2 and 3 on K3.

No problemo on the planes, glad you liked them :)

Now I've locked on

12 x K3's
3 x K2's

All running the same MO, best guess is from the same box or same class of machine with same O/S and same opera 9.64

Pisses me off I can lock onto your stealth but cant lock the jumper dammit !

 rofl rofl

I's a tricky one - just sent out a seeker, will take a few hours, but should get it.

Actually whilst the setup on those machines is similar they are on several different networks and doing cute stuff like reverse proxies, and cut out with anonymising - figured as the tail gunner here I'd best stay deep :)

Guess you can't see my *nix bomber though, hardly surprised, it's not even vaguely broadcasting an addy - neat trick a mate showed me a few days ago :)

We will get him, just might take a little while :)

Cheers

This probably isn't the thread for this...BUT.... Win 7 fucken rocks...

It's hands down the best Wndoze EVER
Where everything out here ain't what it seems
When I'm down to nothing, I just go ahead and dream
And face the fact that I'm a circle in a world full of squares

Fixed :D

Hey thanks Kimmo ..  reckon she's whipping into shape quite nicely.. had the gimp, notepad and whatever part of your brain writes code and handles gfx running as hot as a steam shovel the last 6 days.

The key was heaps of loud punk music (noFX rocks my world atm), gallons of coffee and a billion cigga's a day. Paying for it now but.. haha.. I'll drop like a rock tonight.

Yeah, I figured we were both contributing to the tobacco industry - I did not to the caffeine one - it does not like me any more - I think that bot is dead, but I can't see the internal logs, ande it is not always possible to see the proxy hops plus about six or so proxies that were in the chains died today - pretty much a good sign - I didn't kill them - I was damned temped :)

Slowly it gets back to normal...... :)

Actually I'm not really sure what "normal" is anymore... but that is a LONG story :)

Take care everyone, it aint over but it is better :)

Cheers
