Switch opening in a 500Kv substation in the Nevada desert - spectacular.

Also check out the other one a couple down about the exploding substation

Yeah, it's bloody awesome watching that. I wouldn't like to be near it tho'. A bloke at work was damn near killed a few years ago switching 11KV.

Electricity......as someone once said it is at the same time proof that chaos prevails and that man is afraid of nothing...

Years ago when I was living in Port Augusta they had an arc over in station B, some poor bastard was in the path...it literally took his skin off, dead before he hit the ground, in two pieces.....

Not to be fucked with, but I guess we have all been zapped..My first was feeding the ladder of a toy fire engine into a 240 volt socket....Well, it fitted.... :)

Nicola Tesla maybe tamed it Globe...dunno, very smart man....

But, you raised the subject of UFO's.....Come on, tell the story, it will NOT get laughed out of court here, and I really want to discuss it on an open forum :)

I'll tell mine again...... :)

Cheers

I remember getting an enormous boot from a Marshall stack once. The band I was in was playing a series of gigs with another band, and we thought the cheapest option would be to 'roady' for each other. It was true, many hands made light work but could also be confusing. As I ducked down behind the stack (2 x quad boxes and a head) to connect it up, some knob-jockey decided to power it all up.

I didn't know what was happening! My arm started convulsing and my heart was racing... I was thrown back (probably leaped back in terror) but I managed to let the thing go before it was too late. Very scary as it was happening, but many laughs over a few beers after the gig.

Dimensions? Physically or electrically?

Cold... nah, not too bad... the big blanket in the sky kept the frost away this morning.

Has anyone else seen the episode of Top Gear where they tested the theory that you should be ok if struck by lightning whilst inside your car? It's pretty funny watching the presenter's terrified expression as they use a power station to strike the car with artificial lightning. I'll see if I can find a clip.

Nup, haven't seen it. Won't be seeing much telly 'til next week at least. The kids have monopolised it.

Not see that...

By dimensions I meant I think that is the first time you have mentioned playing in a band.
